Prevent Velocity License Issues

Synopsis

Starting in Velocity 3.8.1 we introduced a new licensing scheme, SIDMethod 3, that is more robust and is designed to prevent the Velocity ServerID from changing, especially in Virtualized environments. When upgrading from an older version of Velocity, the SIDMethod is not automatically upgraded to version 3. Below are the steps to upgrade the Velocity Server to SIDMethod 3.

 

Solution

  1. Launch the Windows File Explorer and navigate to the Velocity Folder (normally located at C:\Program Files (x86)\Identiv\Velocity) and locate the file VelocityLicenseUpdateTool.exe and double-click to launch the tool.

  1. When the Update Tool launches you will see your Server ID that is created under SID Method 1.  Click on the “Request new/replacement licenses”

  1. You will be prompted with your new ServerID based on the SIDMethod3. Send these details to your Identiv Inside Sales Agent or email sales@identiv.com. Please include your site name and SEN. They will provide you with updated license keys.

  1. Once you have received your replacement licenses, you are ready to switch over to SIDMethod 3 and apply your licenses. Press the “Update to 3.8.1 License Scheme”. You will be prompted with a warning message. Press yes.

  1. Paste in your new license keys and press “Add/renew”
