Configuring UPS Settings on event of Power failure
3VR users can be protect their appliances in the event of a power failure, or they can be notified when a SmartRecorder has lost power and is running off a UPS.
If the user has an APC UPS (Uninterruptible power supply, also called a battery backup), they can connect it to the SmartRecorder and edit a setting in SystemManager to have the SmartRecorder shut itself down safely prior to when the UPS runs out of power. This is described in detail in the 3VR Installation and Configuration guide.
If the user wants to know whether they will be notified by the SmartRecorder/Enterprise about when a system is running on backup power, the answer is "maybe". SystemManager cannot send such alerts, but if the UPS has a dry contact output to indicate power failure, this output could be connected to the SmartRecorder alarm inputs to generate an alert event, which can be set up to send email notifications. This has not been tested. Refer the 3VR Installation and Configuration Guide and the 3VR OpCenter User Manual (information on setting up alarm alerts).
