Troubleshooting the Diebold 91X ATM transaction plug-in

91X is software, developed by Diebold, that runs on both Diebold and non-Diebold ATMs.

How is 91X installed and configured on an ATM? What are the installation pre-requisites?

91X is installed by technicians trained for 91X. If the technician asking general questions about how to configure the ATM, rather than specific questions about how to set up the 3VR portion of the integration, refer them to their project manager.

In order for the integration with 91X to work, the following must be true:

  • The ATMs are network ATMs (TCP or dial-up, not serial)

How is the 91X integration set up? Is any external hardware required (SETI/NTI)?

Similar to the NTI, there are two ways to configure the 91X plug-in:

  • with a network hub

  • with a switch capable of port mirroring

However, no external hardware is required other than the hub, if they choose to use that setup type. See the Diebold 91X ATM Plug-in Installation and Configuration guide for setup steps for both installation types.

What models of 3VR are supported?

We recommend using a 3VR SmartRecorder with two network cards for 91x integration. It is possible to integrate with a single NIC SmartRecorder ( S-Series 1 hybrid) using the hub setup type, with some modifications to the setup process. The steps that differ are outlined in the documentation.

The settings look right but they're still not getting transactions... now what?

  • Make sure a test transaction was generated. This can be any kind of transaction (withdrawal, balance inquiry, etc) that prints a receipt

  • Make sure data coming from the transaction server is not encrypted

Customer complains that transaction data is missing from event cards The SETI and the 91x plug-in display different transaction data on their event cards. Here is an image of a 91X event card, with the text on the right appearing on mouse over.
