Cameras not capturing faces

There aren’t any face events being displayed in the Monitor panel. The Faces option/checkbox does not show up in the event type menu in the Monitor or Search panels.

Solution

  1. Is Face Finding enabled for the relevant channels? If not, enable face finding on the necessary channels in SystemManager.

    1. Launch SystemManager

    2. In the Manage Servers panel, locate the relevant channel.

    3. Highlight the relevant channel.

    4. Look on the right side of the screen, section called “Face Finding”

    1. Click on the right-side column of the Face Finding field to enable.

  2. Have cameras been set up for face, according to 3VR guidelines? Refer/provide them with either of these documents:

    1. 3VR Facial Surveillance Reference Sheet

    2. Image Guidelines for Face Recognition

    3. Does the quality of the face image meet the minimum requirements (as in the doc above) and have at least 30 pixels between the eyes?  (This is our minimum.)

  3. Does the quality of the face image meet the minimum requirements (as in the doc above) and have at least 30 pixels between the eyes?  (This is our minimum.)

In 7.0 and later versions,, the Face option appears once cameras are enabled. In the Monitor panel, the Faces checkbox will appear in the event type menu only if the selected cameras have face finding enabled and face events have occurred within the selected time frame.

If you are trying to set up a camera for face recognition, you need enough light on the face, not too much light behind them, and a small enough exposure time that they don't stretch or pixelate.
