Microsoft Installer
How to run the client application installation as an Microsoft Installer (.msi) file?
Some of the important pre-install checks (for example, making sure each PC has .net installed) will not be performed when installing using the .msi file. This could result in the Client Applications not running properly, and if they encounter any problems their first response should be to re-install the client applications using the standard .exe.
Instructions
The .msi is contained within the standard installer .exe. Customers may ask for this file in order to do batch installations on all of their client machines. To extract the Client Installer .exe:
Run the .exe with the argument /a. This will run the client apps in administrator mode. (Or right click and select "run as administrator")
After clicking through the welcome screen, they will be prompted to enter a path to extract the installer files need to be extracted.
They can then blindly push the Next > button until the installer finishes, and if they navigate to the path they specified they'll find the .msi file there. The installer won't do anything besides extract files in this mode (no shortcuts, etc).
If the customer is requesting the ability to install client applications silently/unattended, this is only supported in software version 7.0 or higher version.
