Before installing Velocity, ensure your server, workstation, or client computer meets these requirements.
Minimum Hardware Requirements
For Velocity Server (or Database Server):
x64 3.10 GHz CPU (or equivalent)
32GB RAM (64GB RAM recommended for large systems)
RAID 1 Configuration Recommended
RAID 5 Configuration NOT Recommended (Due to degraded SQL write performance)
1TB HDD (or equivalent)
DVD drive (or use a soft copy on USB)
For system administration, include:

More RAM, a faster processor, and a faster video card with more video RAM are recommended and will improve performance for most applications; it will also help ensure long-term compatibility with system expansion and upgrades to Velocity, the Windows operating system and the SQL Server database.
These system requirements estimate what will be required for satisfactory performance; however, your particular needs may differ from or exceed the requirements noted. Your specific needs depend on several factors, including the number of users on the system, applications running, connected devices, and usage level. Therefore, please follow this general guideline: ensure you have enough processing power, RAM (including video card RAM), and hard disk space in your system to address ALL your applications and services adequately. Then, please ensure your system performance keeps up-to-date with any expanding requirements.

Database Requirements
Your organization’s IT department’s policies might determine whether you can manage your own SQL Server database for Velocity or must run the Velocity database on an existing SQL Server driven by IT.
If you are updating or upgrading an existing Velocity installation to the 3.8.5 release, specific older versions of SQL Server may work for the update but are not officially supported. If you already have SQL Server 2014, 2016, 2017, 2019 or 2022 installed on your server, the Velocity 3.8.5 Installer detects and uses your complete edition of SQL Server for the Velocity database.
New installations of Velocity 3.8.5 provide you with the option to install the free Express edition of Microsoft SQL Server 2019. Suppose this Express edition is not adequate for your needs. In that case, you must install a licensed edition of a supported version (2016, 2017, 2019, or 2022) of SQL Server before doing a new Server installation of Velocity 3.8.5.
If you already have SQL Server 2016, 2017, 2019 or 2022 installed on your server, the Velocity 3.8.5 Installer detects and uses your complete edition of Microsoft SQL Server for the Velocity database.
