Sending Updated Package
In System Manager, click Maintenance to go to the Maintenance panel.
Click the Update Software tab.
Check the box next to the name of the appliance to select it.
Click Inspect. Check the Status column to verify that the system is in a ready state:
“OK” “OK” is displayed if the system is operating normally and ready to be upgraded.
“Unauthorized” “Unauthorized” will be displayed if the current user is not authorized to upgrade software on the selected server.
“Unreachable” “Unreachable” will be displayed if the system is not in a state where it can be upgraded.
Click Send Update.
In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the software update file, named Appliance-VIMS-7.0.X.XXXXX-en-us.3pa (where the Xs represent the software version and build number):
If you are connected to the VIP Appliance with a laptop or over the network, navigate to the drive on your computer where you have saved the unzipped 3VR download package. Browse to the update file and click to select it.
If you are connected to the VIP Appliance with a monitor, mouse, and keyboard, browse to the USB drive or CD containing the update file and click to select the file.
Click OK. System Manager will transfer the selected update file to the appliance. The Status column will show the status of the transfer as it progresses.
When the transfer is complete, the Status column for the appliance will show “Ready “Ready to Update” Update” with the name of the update file.
Updating Appliance
Click Update.
The Status column will show the status of the update as it progresses.
When the update is complete, the Messages panel will show the appliance’s name and IP address followed by “Done”“Done”
Updating Client Applications
After the appliance has been updated, users must update 3VR OpCenter, 3VR System Manager, and any other 3VR applications installed on their PCs using the 3VR Client Applications installation package that matches the new version. See the document Refer Installing and Upgrading 3VR Client Applications for more instructions.
Updating an Enterprise - Live Update

The first step in the upgrade process is to update the Enterprise appliance.
In System Manager, click Maintenance to go to the Maintenance panel.
Click the Update Software tab.
Check the box next to the Enterprise Appliance. The Enterprise Appliance is indicated by an icon with three green cubes:
Click Inspect. Check the Status column to verify that the system is in a ready state:
“OK” is displayed if the system is operating normally and ready to be upgraded.
“Unauthorized” will be displayed if the current user is not authorized to upgrade software on the selected server.
“Unreachable” will be displayed if the system is not in a state where it can be updated.
Click Update. In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the software update file, named Appliance- VIMS-7.0.X.XXXXX-en-us.3pa (where the Xs represent the software version and build number).
Click OK. The update will immediately begin processing.
When the update is complete, the Status column will say “Done” “Done” next to the Enterprise Appliance.
Close System Manager.
Updating your Client Application

Click the Update Software tab.
Click Clear All to deselect the VIP Enterprise Appliance.
Click Select All to select all appliances except the Enterprise.
Click Inspect. Check the Status column to verify that the appliances are in a ready state:
“OK” is displayed if the system is operating normally and ready to be upgraded.
“Unauthorized” will be displayed if the current user is not authorized to upgrade software on the selected server.
“Unreachable” will be displayed if the system is not in a state where it can be upgraded.
Click Send Update.
In the Choose 3VR Update File window, locate the software update file, named Appliance- VIMS-7.0.X.XXXXX-en-us.3pa (where the Xs represent the software version and build number).
Click OK.

Click Clear All to deselect the VIP Enterprise Appliance.
Click Select All to select all appliances except the Enterprise.
Click Schedule Update.
In the Schedule Update window, select the update package to use for the update from the Package drop-down menu.
If the update package is not listed, click Add Package and select the update file. See Updating an Enterprise - Updating Packages of this guide for more information on managing update packages.
Specify the date and time for the update. The appliance update should be scheduled for 10 minutes after the Enterprise update. For example, if the Enterprise update is scheduled for 9:00 PM, the appliance update should be scheduled for 9:10 PM (or later).
Click Schedule Update.
System Manager will launch the Scheduled Updates dialog, showing that there are now two pending updates, one for the Enterprise and one for its appliances.
Click Close to return to the Update Software tab.

Select the package to delete.
Click Delete.
In the dialog that pops up, click Yes to confirm that you wish to delete the selected update package.
