Updating from Velocity v3.6 (or higher) to Velocity v3.8.5
If you are moving an existing Velocity system to a new release, you must use the Velocity Update Wizard instead of the Velocity Installer. The update wizard will run on your licensed Velocity Server; your Velocity Clients will be updated automatically.
Before performing the procedure below, be sure to follow the instructions in these topics:
Unsupported Features
Velocity 3.8.5 displays a list of legacy features that are no longer supported. These legacy features have been previously announced as being unsupported. By default, Velocity 3.8.5 will not update your system if you use any of these legacy features.
To update to 3.8.5 when legacy features are in use please contact Identiv Technical Support who will provide instructions on temporarily turning these unsupported features on in 3.8.5.
The following steps provide more information regarding the unsupported features and updating to a newer version.
Contact Identiv or your certified Hirsch/Identiv dealer to obtain the appropriate version of the Velocity Update Wizard.
Copy the Velocity Update Wizard to your licensed Velocity Server and run it on that computer.

A window displays the list of unsupported features based on the cases listed.

Case 2: If at least one deprecated feature/features are used, the user cannot proceed with the update as shown:
To proceed with the update, the user should call Identiv Technical Support to temporarily turn ON the unsupported feature(s) temporarily. Once these features have been enabled, you can then re-run the update. A screen like the one below appears; click Continue.
5. The EULA screen appears. Scroll down to the bottom to click the Accept button.
6. Click Yes to backup the database before making the changes, or select No if you don’t wish.

8. When prompted, choose whether to start Velocity after the update has finished by clicking either the Yes or the No button.
9. If your existing Velocity system detects Velocity Web Services Client (VWSC) is not installed, a window prompts you to Install the update.
Suppose your existing Velocity system detects that Velocity Web Services Client (VWSC) is installed. In this case it will be automatically updated later in the update process as described in the final VWSC installation complete screen as in step 16.
A series of progress dialogs are displayed.
The Velocity Update Wizard detects and installs the prerequisites that are required.
The wizard installs all the specified prerequisites to monitor if any one of them requires a reboot. The updater reboots the system if the prerequisites need a reboot at the end.
10. The Velocity Update Wizard prompts for a system restart. Click Yes to restart.
11. After the system restart, the update wizard should continue to run automatically. If the update fails to automatically restart then you must run the update wizard manually.
12. A series of dialog similar to steps 2 to 10 appears. Take the same action as you have done in steps 2 to 10 until you see the VWSC Installer window below. Click Next.
